CYAXARES
I am the king of die Median Empire and very proud about it. My father’s name was Phraortes. When he was killed in battle with the Assyrians, I became the next king of the Medes.
Maybe you are not aware of the fact, but I was partially responsible for destroying the mighty power of the Assyrians who ruled the world for a very long time.
I made friends with the Babylonian king called Nabopolasser and our combined armies first destroyed their religious capital of Assur.
Two years later the Assyrians received the final death blow when we raised Nineveh to the ground.
In order to strengthen the already strong bond we went a step further. I gave my beautiful daughter Amytis to marry his son.
The fact she would one day become the wife of the most powerful ruler on earth was unbeknown at the time of her marriage with Nebuchadnezzar.
FULFILLED PROPHECY
I must tell you about another surprise. One of my historians got hold of the writings of an Israelite prophet by the name of Nahum.
He predicted that Nineveh was to be destroyed and never ever will it be rebuilt and inhabited.
When my scribe read this to me I was so surprised. To think that my victory over the Assyrians was prophesied before it actually happened.
I want to encourage you to read that ancient book of Nahum. Maybe you too may become a fulfilment of prophecy.
But I must also tell you about another prophecy pertaining to the future fame of the Medes. Let me read you the first one by an Israelite prophet called Isaiah. He prophesied:
Chapter 13:17 Behold, I will stir up the Medes against them.
When my secret services first read this to me I was shocked. How can we as a nation make war against the allied who helped us to defeat the Assyrians.
Let me quote to you what another prophet by the name of Jeremiah prophesied:
Jeremiah 51:11 “Sharpen the arrows, take up the shields! The LORD has stirred up the kings of the Medes, because his purpose is to destroy Babylon. The LORD will take vengeance, vengeance for his temple.
This will surely not happen during my life time. Especially after I have given my daughter Amytis to marry Nebuchadnezzar, the son of Nabopolasser.
I challenge you to watch world events to check the reliability and authenticity of the Hebrew prophets.
